Bradwell Hill Billy
Now established as one of the most challenging sportive routes in the UK cycling calendar, the Bradwell Hill Billy has opened entries for the 2019 event, which takes place on Sunday 18th June.
Dubbed the Peak District’s answer to the Fred Whitton due to its 7 tough climbs adding up to 2300m of ascent over 78km riding, the Bradwell Hill Billy attracts local cyclists as well as those from further afield looking for a day of hardcore cycling taking in staggeringly beautiful parts of the Peak District you’ve probably never seen before.
For those wanting to avoid the last two climbs, there is a shorter ‘Five Hills’ route (57km, 1523m of climb).
First organised to raise money for Bradwell Preschool in 2014, the event immediately established itself as one of the most challenging in the cycle sportive calendar.
The day allows a maximum of 200 entrants keeping the ride a small event and not oversubscribing our beautiful country roads.
Daniel Plevey, Event Organiser, says, “We know that the Bradwell Hill Billy is one of the toughest sportive routes in the UK, and we’re proud of that. Whether you’re an old hand at hardcore cycling, or you want to set yourself an ambitious target for your new 2023 fitness regime, sign up – you’ll have fun.”
Our village hospitality and support is amazing – so your legs may be ready to drop off by the end but we will make it up to you with free soup and homemade cake as you finish, if that’s any consolation. You can also feel good knowing that your entry fee is helping to keep our village preschool running.”
